Travel to Thailand to teach English to some of the friendliest and most enthusiastic children. Whether you are on a career break, are studying, or are just to lend a helping hand, you can really make a difference as a volunteer teacher. Due to growth in tourism and globalization, the demand for English speaking Thais has really risen. There is now push to make young students in Thailand really good English-speakers and writers, but Thailand also lacks quality English teachers, especially in remote provinces like Surin.

When volunteering teaching English in Thailand, you will teach practical conversational skills playfully by telling stories, playing games, and performing plays. You will also teach specific vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Our volunteer teaching English program in Thailand offers opportunities to volunteer by allowing you to implement your own teaching programs and seeing them work within the Thai community structure.

You will have your weekend frees to explore the richness of culture and nature in this fascinating country. This is a chance to gain valuable teaching experience, as well. You will become immersed in Thai culture, which is captivating.

Role of Volunteer

When volunteering overseas teaching English in Thailand, you will work as a teacher in a public primary and/or secondary school. You will teach from Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3.30 pm. You will teach in primary schools to students between 6 to 12 years old. If you are an experienced teacher, it may be possible to arrange placements in secondary schools. There are also placements to teach children with disabilities.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

No specific qualifications are required to volunteer abroad teaching English in Thailand, but your understanding of Thai culture and language can help improve the experience for both you and the children.

Global Crossroad's volunteer program in Thailand application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).

In addition to the application fee, you are required to pay a weekly program fee . You will pay your weekly fee directly to the country coordinator, who in turn will allocate it to your host family, project and other in-country support we offer to our volunteers. This way, the fees that you pay will benefit those who rightfully deserve them, and not for company profit.
