You have a special opportunity to volunteer abroad in healthcare in Thailand to help provide healthcare to Thai people who need it the most, while also exploring this incredible country. Global Crossroad's volunteer in healthcare program in Thailand is looking for nurses and medical professionals to work in Surin's hospitals, clinics, and childcare centers.

You will work alongside local medical professionals, gaining knowledge and valuable professional experience along the way. As a volunteer abroad in healthcare in Thailand, your responsibilities will depend on your medical experience and qualifications. You may be asked to assist with various procedures, but regardless of your qualifications, you will undoubtedly change the lives of others by allowing them to live healthier and productive lives.

Role of Volunteer

You will work 4 days a week and will have Friday to Sunday off. You will start your work at 9 pm and finish around 3 pm. Depending on individual skills, trainings and qualifications, volunteers in this volunteering overseas in healthcare in Thailand project are involved in various medical/healthcare activities such as:

  • Observe local professionals
  • Help patients with physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Provide basic care
  • Carry out first aid
  • Administer medications
  • Recording patient details and taking vital statistics (height, blood pressure, weight, etc)
  • Give immunizations
  • Promote health education
  • Stitching and dressing wounds
  • Help with personal hygiene

Medical volunteers will shadow local doctors and learn mostly from observation. Due to inherent risk involved and medical regulations, volunteers cannot treat patients or become involved in surgery during the project.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

Interested volunteers should have certification or proof of experience in a medical field, such as a medical student ID, EMT or paramedic certification, or nursing or physician's credentials. Due to the health risks involved, volunteers who are not properly trained in healthcare can only observe during this volunteering in healthcare opportunity in Thailand, which is still a wonderful learning experience.

Global Crossroad's volunteer program in Thailand application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).

In addition to the application fee, you are required to pay a weekly program fee . You will pay your weekly fee directly to the country coordinator, who in turn will allocate it to your host family, project and other in-country support we offer to our volunteers. This way, the fees that you pay will benefit those who rightfully deserve them, and not for company profit.
