Cape Town is South Africa's capital city and the most popular tourist destination in all of Africa. One of the most multicultural cities in the world, it is estimated to house more than 3.74 million people according to the last census in 2011.

Cape Town, as beautiful as it is, lacks quality education for students in kindergarten, primary, and secondary school. These schools are often underfunded and understaffed. Many of the students who attend these schools come from disadvantaged families in and around Cape Town. It is for these reasons that volunteers to teach English in South Africa are needed to help provide a better education, so that these children at least have a chance to lead a successful life as an adult.

This is a great opportunity to explore the field of education, while gaining valuable experience in it. Your dedication to these children will leave a lasting mark on them. You have the power to give them a brighter and more successful future. You will also have plenty of time to explore this incredible country in Africa.

Role of Volunteer

When volunteering teaching English in South Africa you will be working in kindergarten, primary, or secondary schools. Your duties will vary depending on the project and ages of the students.

Primary schools are understaffed. Often there are over 40 kids to one classroom. It doesn't help that there are limited facilities for the children to learn in.
