Skills and Qualifications
This volunteering in Cambodia community program is open to volunteers with a wide range of experiences and education. Volunteers must be between 18 to 70 years old
Each day working in community development in Cambodia will bring fresh and exciting experiences and challenges. You will get to explore and discover a beautiful country, culture and people while also providing large scale benefits to an entire community.
On arrival you will be met at the airport by your local coordinator and taken to your accommodation to get settled in.
- First Day: On your first day of Cambodia community volunteering project, your coordinator will bring you to the work placement and introduce you to the staff. You’ll have the day to get settled in and learn about the work you’ll be doing during your project.
- Weekdays: Your work begins properly on the second day, and while your schedule will vary depending on the placement and your specific skillset, a regular day looks like this:
- 7.00 to 7.30 AM: Start the day with a delicious and authentic Cambodian breakfast, enjoyed either at your work placement or with your fellow volunteers at the volunteer house.
- 7.45 AM: At this time you set out for the workplace where you’ll spend the day greatly improving the lives of ravaged communities.
- 12.00 PM: At midday you get a break for lunch, which is a great chance to get to know your local colleagues and immerse yourself in their culture and way of life.
- 3.00 PM: Your volunteer work will generally end around this time, and the rest of the day is free to relax, hang out with your fellow volunteers, sightsee or shop.
- 6.45 PM: Finally, your day ends with an amazing Cambodian dinner at the volunteer house, giving you the chance to do some cultural exchange with your roommates and friends there.
Cambodia Volunteer Opportunities: Dates and Fees
Cambodia programs start on Mondays in the first week and third week of the month.

Global Crossroad's volunteer program in Cambodia application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).
In addition to the application fee, you are required to pay a weekly program fee. You will pay your weekly fee directly to the country coordinator, who in turn will allocate it to your host family, project and other in-country support we offer to our volunteers. This way, the fees that you pay will benefit those who rightfully deserve them, and not for company profit.

Accommodation and Meal
As a volunteer in Cambodia you will be staying in our safe and comfortable volunteer house in Phnom Penh. Here you will share your room equipped with comfortable beds and modern bathroom facilities with volunteers of the same gender. Reception is manned at all times of day for your assistance, and three delicious Cambodian meals will be provided each day. Volunteers working outside of Phnom Penh city will stay with our carefully chosen host families.
Free Time and Weekend Exploration
Not only will you provide great benefit by joining Cambodia community volunteering opportunity, but you’ll also have plenty of free time to discover and explore everything Cambodia has to offer. During the week you can spend your evenings enjoying Phnom Penh and the surrounding area, and on the weekends, you can go on longer tours all over Cambodia to famous sites like Angkor Wat, Kampot and Otres Beach.

Arrival and departure
You have to fly into Phnom Penh International Airport for our community development volunteer program in Cambodia. We recommend flying into Cambodia one day before the start date of our volunteer projects.
Global Crossroad does not provide airport transfer services after the completion of its orphanage volunteer projects. So, you must arrange your transport to the airport yourself. You also have to inform us about flight delays and missed/cancelled flights so that we can adjust the schedule.
A tourist visa is needed for a volunteer trip to Cambodia. There is on-arrival-visa offered at the Phnom Penh International Airport. If you’re a citizen of the USA, Canada, UK or Australia then you can apply for visa-on-arrival with your passport and a couple of photos. A single entry tourist visa will last for 30 days. You need to get vaccinated for Hepatitis B, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Japanese Encephalitis, Malaria, Rabies, Routine vaccines, and Measles.
What kind of work will I be conducting?
Volunteers will be involved in writing proposals, reports, or cast studies as well as occasional field work. You will work in the countryside and focus on improving the community as a whole with a daily schedule that depends entirely on the needs of the community and your specific skills.
