Dates and Fees to Intern in Peru
All internships start at the beginning of each week. Global Crossroad is very flexible and understands that various travel constraints that you might face.
Internship options are available year around. Also, some programs are seasonal due to extreme weather conditions. Between the project link and a Global Crossroad representative, all of this specific information regarding programs dates will be available to you. If a program is unavailable, we will provide an alternative program for you to join.

Global Crossroad's internship application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).
The program fee for internship and volunteering is basically same in Peru. However, unlike volunteers, interns often work closely with guided supervision from a local project director, and a small weekly supervision fee ($25-50/ week) may be incurred in addition to volunteer program fees.
Room and Food when you Intern in Peru
Our interns are provided with accommodations with host families. Our host families are located in a safe and clean neighborhood and are near to internet cafes, local markets, local bus stop, police station and departmental store. Our host families provide comfortable bedrooms and community areas.
There is a shared and furnished kitchen, television and shared bathrooms with running water and clean bathrooms. These families are well experienced in hosting international interns and volunteers for a very long time. Staying with host families will further immerse into the beautiful culture and Peruvian way of life.
Three local Peruvian meals —breakfast, lunch and dinner are served to Peru interns. We also provide vegetarian meals to interns which they must mention about it on their application forms. The fee you kindly pay to our programs is not inclusive to other meals and beverages except for three meals.
Supervision and Field Support
While working as an intern in Peru internship opportunity with Global Crossroads, your internship project is supervised by experienced and qualified professionals. In most of the cases, the head of the project will serve as the supervisor of your internship program. The supervisors are experts in their respective fields where they will help you with any problem you have and mentor you p till the completion of the project.
Global Crossroads does not provide college credit for its internship projects. Our local office or your supervisor will provide you with a letter and certificate on the completion of your program verifying your work as an intern and your job responsibilities as an intern. You can earn an academic credit for internship projects at Peru by prearranging the project with your college/university. The students shall have to coordinate with their faculties and professors regarding the college credit for internship prior to applying for Global Crossroad.
Internship schedules in Peru are flexible and you will get a lot of free time to see around the local landscapes and cultures. There are many beautiful things and places in Peru to watch-- Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, museums of Lima, Chan Chan, the largest Pre-Columbian ruin, giant sand dunes, kaleidoscopic peaks and naturally rich national parks.
You can also go for rafting, paragliding, zip lines or bike trails for fun and adventure in Peru. Although we don't generally arrange activities for our interns, our local staffs will assist you accordingly with information and support for your various free time activities. Arrival and Departure
You should plan to arrive into Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. Once you arrive, a Global Crossroads representative will be waiting to pick you up.
Please consult our country coordinator before leaving your home country, and make sure to send us your correct flight information once you have booked your travel. If there are any changes, delays, or if you miss your flight please contact us as soon as possible.
We do not offer airport drop-off service, so you will need to arrange your own departure plans.
To prepare for your internship experience in Peru, you should secure a tourist visa. Depending on your nationality, a ‘visa on arrival’ may be available. You may extend your visa if you decide to stay in Peru longer after you arrive by visiting to the department of Immigration.
