Youth Athletics Project in Brazil

Are you passionate about sports and want to share this passion with disadvantaged children in Brazil? Global Crossroad has a meaningful and affordable volunteer work with youth athletics in Brazil project just for you!

  • Affordable travel and volunteering opportunity, starting at just $370
  • A unique way to share your passion with children who will greatly benefit from it
  • Volunteer with one of the most reputable names in the business
  • Day and night support from our in-country coordinators

Sports are a wonderful way to teach children discipline, teamwork and routine, as well as to encourage them to have hope and lead healthy, active lives. Unfortunately, in the poorest areas of Rio de Janeiro most children will never get the attention of a coach, or the opportunity to participate in organized sports activities.

By volunteering in Brazil in youth athletics, you will have the chance to give the poorest children the chance to learn new sports and develop their athletic skills. Your work within this program will help keep vulnerable children off of the streets, away from crime and drugs, and free to just be a kid.

Role of Volunteer

As a youth athletic volunteer in Brazil, you will be coaching and teaching children in a wide variety of sports, such as soccer, volleyball, skateboarding, martial arts, circus training, and more. You are providing these children with an opportunity to feel safe, secure, confident, and happy. Daily activities may include:

  • Playing with the children
  • Giving children attention and care
  • Introducing children to English
  • Organizing sports games
  • Working with local community organizations and schools
  • Promoting nutrition and health
  • Coaching sports practices and games
  • Refereeing organized sports events

You will have the opportunity to become involved with numerous volunteer projects while in Rio. You will not be confined to the one project you register for; there is a lot of flexibility. Volunteers typically work on numerous projects with different partners and you will be able to learn about other options available upon your arrival.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

While there are no specific qualifications required in order to join this volunteering in Brazil with youth athletics program, it is highly recommended that you have basic Portuguese language skills in order to better serve your students and enhance your volunteering experience.

You should also be able to communicate proficiently in English, but English does not necessarily have to be your native language. You should also enjoy working with children. Youth athletics volunteers in Brazil should be good role models, and are flexible, patient, caring, creative, responsible, and resourceful individuals.

All volunteer programs in Brazil start every Monday of each month. However, if there is travel constrains, you can start any project on any day.
