Free Time and Weekend (Wildlife Volunteering)

Are you wondering if there will be enough time for you to travel and explore while volunteering in Costa Rica? Would you like to know some places of interest that you can visit while changing lives of poor communities in Costa Rica?  Well, Costa Rica volunteer program in Costa is designed to allow you enough free time to explore and experience the culture while you volunteer.


Free Time

In Costa Rica volunteering programs you will be working 4-5 hours every day, from Monday to Friday. Besides that you get to spend your free time in the morning and in the evenings for exploring Costa Rica's diverse natural beauty and its cultural grandeur.

You will be volunteering in Wildlife & Sea Turtle Conservation Project (Reserva Playa), Sea Turtle Conservation Project (Pacuare), Wildlife Sanctuary Project (Natuwa) and Sea Turtle Conservation Project (Osa Peninsula). You will be able to enjoy rafting, zip-lining, hiking and fishing even explore varieties of flora and fauna. All these exciting places and activities will inspire you to have a great memorable time when volunteering in Costa Rica.


Weekend Exploration

You will be working for five days in a week leaving you two days over the weekend , which you can spend by visiting different places of significance and traditional splendors.

There are plenty of tourist attractions in Costa Rica for everyone to experience, depending on your interest and preferences. Costa Rica is a wonderland of natural attractions, with volcanoes, beaches, cloud forests, unique wildlife, waterfalls, zip lining and an excellent tropical sea, It is an adventurous abode.  There is so much for you to experience over the weekends that will turn your volunteering in Costa Rica experience memorable and rewarding.

Llanos de Cortés

Costa Rica is a land of rivers and waterfalls and spectacular bio diversity. Llanos de Cortes is one of the most beautiful hidden waterfalls in Bagaces, Costa Rica. This is a free falling waterfall that drops into a tranquil pond with a white sandy beach that’s perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Apart from this one can observe occasional vendor selling coconuts or seafood making this an appealing sight to watch and enjoy spending your time in during the weekends in Costa Rica volunteers programs

Wilson Botanical Garden

As Costa Rica takes the lead as world’s most bio diverse spectacles, Wilson Botanical Garden is a perfect place to experience this first hand. Built by Robert and Catherine Wilson in 1963, Wilson Botanical Garden is a huge natural forest that spans across 355 hectares of land. This excellent garden holds more than 1000 genera of plants from about 200 families and over 2000 native Costa Rican species. It is an excellent place to observer nature while at volunteer opportunities in Costa Rica during weekends and make rewarding life-long memories.

Parque Nacional Marino Ballena

You cannot go to Costa Roca and not visit Parque Nacional Marino Ballena. It is a unique national park that resembles a whale's tail during the low tide. It is also most famous for its beaches and equally important for all marine life in available in the park. The marine park protects coral reefs, migrating humpback whales, dolphins and nesting sea turtles. All these spectacular marine diversities will give you an awe-inspiring experience in your Costa Rica volunteer program at weekends.

Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary

If you are an animal lover, this is your best bet to spend your weekend. Alturas is a unique wildlife sanctuary that shelters injured and orphaned animals as well as illegal pets. You will get to see injured macaws, caged monkeys, coatis and various other species of animals and birds. It is one of a kind rehabilitation center in the world. Visiting the sanctuary during your weekends is the best chance for you to understand the trial and tribulations animals go through. It will surely make your volunteering in Costa Rica project worthwhile.
