This exciting volunteer with eco-sustainability program in Guanacaste, Costa Rica involves volunteering in a beachside wilderness location. Volunteers live together on-site, and get involved with a variety of tasks, including: planning new projects, daily tasks to maintain the current project and investigating or creating new, more efficient methods, of eco-sustainability for the project.

You will have access to horses when not working and are encouraged to ride the horses to the beach daily for sunset. As part of this volunteering overseas with eco-sustainability in Guanacaste, Costa Rica you will also be in charge of running and improving community development projects, such as feeding the homeless of the community once a week.

Role of Volunteer

Volunteers must work at least 6 shifts per week when part of the volunteer with eco-sustainability program in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. You will decide the schedule, and shifts run from either 7 a.m. to noon or 1 to 5 in the afternoon. You will be in charge of helping with animals at the site as well as their eco-sustainability projects, and the project of feeding the homeless in the community once weekly.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

It is preferred that volunteers have some knowledge of Spanish, although this is not 100% necessary to be accepted for the volunteering with eco-sustainability opportunity in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. To make their stay and experience as rewarding as possible it is recommended that those with no Spanish language skills enroll on our related language program. All volunteers are expected to be open-minded, flexible, patient, and to possess a passion and love for the volunteer service they are providing.

All volunteer programs in Costa Rica start every Monday of each month. However, if there is travel constrains, you can start any project on any day.

Global Crossroad's volunteer program in Costa Rica application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).

In addition to the application fee, you are required to pay a weekly program fee. You will pay your weekly fee directly to the country coordinator, who in turn will allocate it to your host family, project and other in-country support we offer to our volunteers. This way, the fees that you pay will benefit those who rightfully deserve them, and not for company profit.

How your fee is allocated?

The volunteering overseas in Costa Rica program fees will cover expenses that will begin on the first day of the program (usually the first or third Monday of the month) to the last day of the program. If you arrive before the first day of the program or you decide you stay beyond your program’s last day, you will be responsible for the additional expenses, which would typically be around $30 a day for room and meals at a hostel.
