Due to the impacts of poverty and lack of education, and infrastructure, there are many health issues that are trying to be addressed and solved with the help of the international community. Cambodia is one of the five most land-mined countries in the world, a relic of war, and sadly a prevalent risk and issue that the people of Cambodia are still impacted by.

When you dedicate your time to volunteering work in healthcare in Cambodia, you may work on malaria prevention, health issues in factories, hygiene education, or implementation of rural water and sanitation facilities. You may offer support on basics nutrition and health education. Volunteers with the volunteer abroad with the medical project in Cambodia may also support of the Woman's Pregnancy Association.

Within these programs, you will also have the opportunity to initiate and develop health care projects in partnership with local colleagues, offer health consultations (nurses) in villages, or to work on proposals, reports, and research with basic office skills. Part of your experience will be several community visits to interview, consult, or just observe the situation in the target villages.

Role of Volunteer

Depending on individual skills, trainings and qualifications, volunteers in this volunteer abroad with the medical project in Cambodia are involved in various medical/healthcare activities such as:

Skills and Qualifications Needed

There are no specific skills or requirements to volunteer abroad with the medical project in Cambodia, but those with medical credentials will be able to help according to his or her credentials. You will need to bring proof of a medical certification or proof of experience in a medical field, such as EMT or paramedic certification, or nursing or physician's credentials.  This is the perfect project for those interested in the healthcare field to gain professional experience.
