Role of Volunteers

As a volunteer in Namibia , you will Work for orphaned, neglected, abused and abandoned wild animals. You will help to create a stable environment for the wildlife at the refuge. Along with caring for baby animals, you will help perform farm and reserve maintenance. You will also be trained to assist the local field guides and learn how to guide farm tours. Project staff will arrange periodic excursions and activities for you to participate in during your free time.

In summary, works include:

.  Feeding the animals such as cheetahs and baboons (twice a day)
.  Care for animals
.  Cleaning the enclosures
.  Assisting in the repair and building of structures on the farm
.  Acting as a field guide

If it is the right time of year and the centre is particularly busy, there is a possibility you may be involved in Wild Dog research. This will involve: identifying individual wild dogs, looking at family patterns and recording their eating habits.

Benefits to volunteers.

This program allows volunteers to help the many injured, orphaned and threatened animals of Africa . The overall result for all those who come to experience Noah's Ark in any capacity will have the wonderful opportunity of experiencing unspoiled African wilderness and culture, as well as the knowledge that are they contributing to both the conservation and development in such a vulnerable rural area.

Please note that you can join any project for any length of time, however we recommend (from experience) that you should not stay longer than 4-6 weeks at a project. Should you wish to stay for 8 weeks or longer than rather select a few projects and even try different regions in Africa ( Kenya , South Africa and Namibia ). This allows you to enjoy the different cultures and people in these areas.
