Major FAQ

Arrival Information

All participants will arrive at the Bangkok International Airport in Bangkok , Thailand . From there, they may either visit our Bangkok affiliate school or commute directly to Pattaya via bus or private taxi.

Transfer from Airport to Hostel/Hotel

Global Crossroad DOES NOT provides airport pick-up and transportation services. Global Crossroad will provide the address of the TEFL school where participants are to arrive upon arrival in Pattaya, and will also provide a map to help you and your taxi arrive there without problems or difficulty.

How can I contact the school if I arrive before the start of the TEFL program?

In the event that participants arrive before the proposed start-up date, they are advised to remain in a hotel from which they will then call Global Crossroad's offices. This information, such as the address and telephone numbers of our Thailand TEFL office, will be included in the final placement details provided in the supplied pre-departure booklet.

Accommodation/Food

With advanced notice, Global Crossroad's affiliate school can reserve excellent housing accommodations for participants. Some accommodations are usually available within a 5 minutes' walk of the TEFL school. These accommodations usually run up to 4,300 baht (approximately £ 50/$100 ) per month. Participants are provided with a large, one-bedroom, air-conditioned apartment which is fully furnished with large bed, dresser, table, chairs, refrigerator and telephone, as well as a cable television connection. A 5,000 baht ( approximately £60/ $115 ) security deposit is charged upon arrival and is refunded (fully/partially) when departing. NOTE: a variety of food is available for purchase in Bangkok . Our affiliate school may also assist you, at your own cost, to acquire a direct telephone line and Internet service for your apartment, if you so desire.

Pattaya is the business center and the tourist city of Thailand - offering all these facilities/services within a 1-2 km radius.

How much work is involved with the course?

The course is very intensive and requires a strong commitment by the student. One can expect to be in class for about 5 hours a day Monday through Thursday, plus time spent in practice teaching (usually 6 hours during the course), along with several hours of work at home. Global Crossroad recommends that trainees have no other personal or professional commitments outside the course during these six weeks of training.

Who are the trainers ?

Your course director will be supported by a team of professional teachers, the Academic Director and other trainers. These facilitators will be responsible for leading input sessions and observing and supporting you through teaching practice. Trainers are all qualified (at the very minimum) at the Advanced Skills Diploma level and with experience in teaching and teacher training.

Do I need any qualification to join TEFL/TESOL program?

To be accepted onto the course, participants do not need to have prior teaching experience or teaching qualifications. This is an initial teaching qualification in the specialized field of TEFL / TESOL. If you do not hold a university degree, you should hold qualifications for entry to tertiary level education (e.g. 'A' level-grades, High School diploma, etc.), although exceptions are made with those candidates who demonstrate their suitability for the course through the questionnaire accompanying the application form. Non-native English speakers will be accepted into the course on equal terms to native English language speakers - provided that they possess and can demonstrate a high command of the language. Applicants need to be at least 18 years old.
