Arrival Information
All participants should arrive at the Cape Town International Airport .
Transfer from Airport to Host Family/Hostel/Hotel
Global Crossroad provides airport pick-up and a transfer service. Global Crossroad will arrange for participants to be transferred to their respective living accommodations.
NOTE: We DO NOT offer airport drop-off services - participants are responsible for arranging their own return transportation once the program has commenced. Participants are required to provide their flight information prior to arrival in Cape Town .
How do I contact the school if I arrive before the start of the TEFL program?
In the event that participants arrive before the proposed start date, they are advised to remain in a suggested hotel where they will then call our offices. This information, such as the address and telephone numbers of our Cape Town-based office, will be included in the final placement details provided in the supplied pre-departure booklet.
Accommodations/Meals
There are numerous accommodations available to TEFL students in beautiful Cape Town and all are within a few minutes' walk or ride to the language school. All accommodations are carefully selected - ensuring a happy and memorable stay for ALL participants. Accommodations include friendly, English-speaking host families who additionally provide a single or double bedroom (with room to work), meals (usually just breakfast), laundry facilities, and either private or shared bathroom facilities. Other accommodations which can be arranged include: hotels, guesthouses, and even a backpacker's lodge.
Some meals are the responsibility of the students. South African cuisine consists of a variety of influences ranging from European settlers of old (Dutch, German, French, British) with numerous eastern spices (curries especially). In restaurants, meals can be purchased for as low $4 with some restaurants offering 5-star fare.
Internet/Telephone/Medical Facilities
Cape Town is a business center and one of the largest cities in South Africa , offering all these facilities/services throughout the city. Also: students have access the internet via the language institute.
Climate
Remember , South Africa is in the Southern Hemisphere, so the seasons are reversed. The weather depends on the region you're in, mostly, but generally Cape Town has a very pleasant Mediterranean climate. It is blessed with its geographical location, in the sense that currents from Antarctica keep it cool and disperse any pollution. Average Temperature
