Does the online TEFL course guarantee that I'll be offered an English-teaching position?
If you are a native English speaker, we can guarantee an English-teaching position for you in China . Additionally, we can also provide job placement assistance in other countries, including Chile , South Korean, Japan , Mexico , Thailand , Taiwan and Vietnam .
Do I need any qualification to join online TEFL?
For native, English-speakers, there are no qualifications required. Even non-native, English-speaker are eligible to enroll in our TEFL course if they are able to demonstrate a high level of written and spoken English proficiency (a TOEFL score of 200 or higher may be required).
Is this online TEFL course internationally recognized?
Yes, this online TEFL course is internationally recognized - ensuring that successful graduates are able to apply for paid, English-teaching positions all over the world ALL over the WORLD. Is this course different from the 4-week TEFL courses which are taught abroad?
In terms of course curriculum, recognization, and materials, there is no difference between this online course and our onsite courses which are taught abroad. However, this online course is taken over the course over 60 days, allowing participants to acquire their TEFL certification at their own, individual pace whereas the 4-week course is more intensive - takes place in a classroom setting AND in another country.
Does this online course include any hands-on, in-class teaching experience?
While a minimum of 20 hours of in-class teacher and/or observations is required to complete the online TEFL course and thus, receive your TEFL certificate, these hours are not included in the online course. TEFL participants must volunteer at least 20 hours of their time and newly-learned skills to a TEFL-provider within their community. These 20 hours can be dedicated to either teaching or observing a fellow TEFL instructor. Many communities offer TEFL services and are often more than happy to welcome an English-teacher into their classrooms. In fact, those interested in our volunteer English-teaching positions (offered in over 20 countries) can enroll in these programs at a drastically discounted price.
What support is provided to those enrolling in the online course?
Each online course is moderated by an instructor who facilitates the learning process. These instructors have a long-history of teaching English as a foreign language in classrooms (abroad as well as online) in addition to their experiences of living abroad. Instructors are available to answer students questions in any of the material included in the course as well as provide invaluable information on living abroad and required the steps taken to secure an English-teaching position in another country.
How can I contact my online instructor?
All contact information for online course instructors is provided to the student once they enroll in the course and prior to start of the course. Most students email questions and concerns to respective instructor
Within the virtual classroom, there are also numerous areas available to EACH class where they are able to discuss issues with their instructor and their fellow students. Should the need arise, students may also contact their instructor via phone.
What do I need to enroll in this online course? Textbooks? Computer?
Logically, a computer with an internet connection is required to enroll in this online course. There are no additional textbooks and /or classroom materials necessary as ALL information is available online. Assessments, quizzes and lecture notes are all posted online and are available to you for the entire duration of your course should you wish to go back and look over already-covered material in previous chapters/modules.
What are the sizes of the classes?
To ensure that students have access to their instructor, there are no more than 12-20 students allowed to enroll in each online course. We also like to ensure that the classes are more personable and encourage that the students get to know one another through this learning process.
How do I enroll in the course?
Interested participants may apply online by visiting: http://www.globalcrossroad.com/apply_online.php. Then, each enrolled participant is given an individual is given their own log-in information (log-on ID, password, etc.) which they can use to gain access to the online course (i.e. materials, virtual classroom, etc.).
How are assignments graded/scored?
Assignments are usually graded on a weekly basis, or when a module ends. Written assignments are located throughout each module. When an assignment is posted (via blackboard.com), fellow classmates are required to provide constructive criticism on each other's work. The class instructor add to these comments, thus synergizing the learning process.
Once the course is completed, how do I receive my certificate?
TEFL certificates are given to participants once they have completed (and passed) the online course as well as completed their 20 hours of in-class observations or teaching. Most graduates locate a TEFL provider within their community where they either volunteer as teachers or simply observe various TEFL classes. How do I receive references?
References are included, along with your certificate, which are both mailed to you upon completion of the course.
What if I need an additional copy of my certificate?
In the event that you lose or misplace your certificate, our TEFL institution can provide you with an additional copy for a small, nominal fee.
Does this certification ever expire?
The TEFL certificate provided through our partnering TEFL institution does not EVER expire - providing you with a lifetime of TEFL certification.
How will I find employment?
