Arrival Information
All participants should arrive
at the Jomo Kenyatta International
Airport in Nairobi.
Transfer from Airport to Host Family/Hostel/Hotel
Global Crossroad provides airport
pick-up as well as transfer
to participants' respective
living accommodations. Global
Crossroad DOES NOT offer airport
drop-off services – participants
are responsible for arranging
their own return transportation
once the program has commenced.
TEFL participants are required
to provide their flight information
to Global Crossroad's offices
prior to arrival in Nairobi.
How can I contact the school if I arrive before the start of the TEFL program?
In the event that participants
arrive before their respective/proposed
start date, they are advised
to remain in their own hotel
where they are encouraged to
call Global Crossroad's offices.
Said contact information, such
as the address and telephone
numbers of our Nairobi offices,
will be included in participants’
final placement details provided
in the supplied pre-departure
booklet.
Accommodation/Food
Participants enrolled in the
TEFL program are accommodated
in Global Crossroad's hostel.
This particular hostel is located
in a suburb of Nairobi and is
safe, peaceful, and moderately-equipped
with facilities such as electricity,
fans, running water, etc. Participants
live in shared accommodations
with fellow participants (of
same gender). Global Crossroad's
experienced chef will prepare
three (3) meals a day (breakfast,
lunch, and dinner) for those
staying in the hostel.
Internet/Telephone/Medical Facilities
Nairobi is the business center
and capital of Kenya, offering
all these facilities/services
within a 10-20 km radius.
Climate
Due to its high altitude, Nairobi
has a moderate climate. During
the summertime, the climate
is usually sunny and warm but
quite tolerable. Wintertime
is mild and cool during the
days with significantly chilly
evenings. Rainfall is moderate
with the wettest time of the
year occurring between the late
summer months and autumn –
often producing cloud-filled
days with frequent drizzling.
