Orientation and discussion in Kampala (1 day)

Meet with Global Crossroad's local staff members, participate in a general question/answer sessions, discuss on program itinerary, and general orientation on the Global Crossroad program, as well as learn the history, culture, tradition, and other important issues (health, safety) of Uganda. In your free time (evening), explore the nearby areas. 

Activities: general meeting, discussion on program itinerary, short introduction to Ugandan's culture, tradition, and safety issues, general Q & A sessions.

Service Projects: Work in Orphanage (22 Days)

For the next 22 days, participants will work in an orphanage - sharing their love and time with needy children in various parts of Uganda , teaching them basic conversational English and encouraging them to face the challenging world where English is becoming more and more of a necessity. In their free time, participants can hike to nearby bazaars and/or hillside villages; explore the beauty of mesmerizing Uganda - gaining first-hand experiences of Ugandan lifestyle, culture, and values.

Activities: Work in an orphanage, teach English to orphans, hike in the local bazaar or villages, explore local life, culture, and religions, and help the orphan children to lead a meaningful life.

Uganda Safari and Excursions (5 Days)

After spending quality time with the destitute children of Uganda , participants will then embark on a 5-day tour, taking them through the highlights of the unrivalled parks of Southern Uganda while living in tents - recapturing the original spirit of the safari and excursion. This safari includes visiting Ngamba Island, a home of Chimpanzee, source of Nile and the Queen Eliza beth wild life sanctuary (one of the best-known wildlife sanctuaries in Uganda); and Mabira forest

Program itineraries are merely samples and may change to meet the needs of the volunteers and changes in the field conditions. This itinerary will be revised and finalized during orientation in Uganda
