Neuromuscular Afflictions (NGO)

The primary goal of this volunteer project in Spain is to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from neuromuscular diseases such as Muscular and Spinal Dystrophy. Volunteers in this project work alongside patients, professionals and relatives of those affected by these often debilitating conditions. Participants assist in coordinating self-help and support groups as well as helping others within the organization to provide in-home physical therapy for the affected individuals - resulting in an all-around support network for ALL affected by these neuromuscular conditions.

Volunteers assist patients in various ways to improve their quality of life as well as encourage their integration into society and ultimately their autonomy and self-sufficiency. Volunteers will also help the affected individuals carry out day-to-day activities, escorting them in their daily routines and helping them to compensate for the overall dysfunctions caused by their illnesses.
