Volunteer in South Africa
Day Care Center

Volunteer Safari South Africa

Overview of the Project

The Day Care Center project is great for volunteers who love interacting with young children and helping them learn. There are many activities at the day care that will constantly keep you busy. Global Crossroad has worked together with the local daycare to coordinate a program with activities and tasks, both volunteers and children will enjoy. This project will bring a smile to your face every day as you see how eager the children are to play with you and learn about your culture.

Role of a Volunteer

Volunteers in any of the above projects are involved in various activities such as helping children with homework and teaching basic conversational English. Volunteers will also support recreational and artistic activities with the objective of educational learning. You can help kids with their gardens and develop fun sports activities as well. Volunteers also support in the kitchen by helping to serve lunch in the dining room and they will be assisting with location-specific duties – routine maintenance, construction, etc

Skills/Qualifications Requirements

Volunteers do not require any special skills or qualifications because the project staff will provide all the necessary orientation and training to effectively carry out volunteer activities. However, volunteers should be passionate about caring for others and very understanding to the often adverse situations of these children

Room/Food/Supervision

Most of our volunteers live in a homestay with local host families and they are provided a private room and three meals. The family and volunteers share use of the bathroom and kitchen facilities and you might also have another volunteer living with you. This also provides a local support network beyond the volunteers and program staff. A lot of the volunteers consider their home stay a vital component of their South African experience.
