Important Notice about Salary and Benefits
Salaries and benefits depend on qualifications and experience. Other benefits, such as severance pay, housing, vacation, sick leave, and medical insurance, all depend on the type of school offering employment. Some private, international schools in Bangkok DO offer said benefits. However, schools of rurally-located schools generally do not offer these benefits. Whatever the case, participants will be made aware of their base pay prior to departing (in their proposed contracts).
Severance Pay Some international schools offer participants a severance pay in the amount of 20,000 baht at the termination of fully-respected contracts which is considered a form of compensation.
Airfare
Some schools reimburse airfare fees associated with the return ticket at the close of instructors' successfully completed contracts. NOTE: rural schools do not usually reimburse airfare.
Housing/Food
Most schools do not cover costs associated with living accommodations. However, participants will receive assistance from their respective schools in locating affordable accommodations. While teachers are responsible for food, Thai cuisine (which is available EVERYWHERE) is world famous and quite enjoyable. Participants are advised to allocate $5-10/day for meals (depends on personal eating habits). NOTE: some private schools also offer a monthly stipend of 2,000 baht to assist with costs associated with accommodations.
Vacation & Sick Leave
Sick pay is granted after a qualifying period as well as a vacation leave – usually consisting of 15 days.
Deductions from Salary
All schools deduct a governmental tax of 3% from instructors' salary
Medical & Health Insurance
Most schools do not offer medical insurance to teachers. However, some international schools do – this is something which will be later determined. |
