Salaries range from 1.8-2. 5 million won (Approximately $1800-2 5 00/month). Salaries greatly depend on the level of qualifications and types of schools (private/public).

Level 1 Teacher (2.3 -2.5 million won): have 2 years of full time teaching experience at an accredited institution plus (A) experiences as a teacher at a secondary school; OR (B) a TESOL/TEF certificate (min. 100 hours) or (C) a master's degree.

Level 2 Teacher (2.0 -2.2 million won): have (A) a teacher's certificate for elementary or secondary school; or (B) a TESOL/TEF certificate (min. 100 hours) or (C) a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of teaching experience at accredited institutions

Level 3 Teacher (1.8 -2.0 million won): have a bachelor's degree but no experience or certificate as outlined above

More About the Benefits of Private Schools

Accommodations:

•  Employers shall provide each employee with a place to stay or housing allowance.
•  Any and all fees, charges, costs, taxes, expenses, etc. incurred while using the apartment shall be covered by the employee/instructor/teacher.

Airfare:

•  Round-trip airfare to and from Korea shall be reimbursed by the employer based on an economy class ticket.
•  In the case of a contract renewal, most direct flight available from Korea to employee's home, excluding Korean domestic flights, will be provided.
•  In the event that said employee resigns within the first six months of the current contract, he/she will responsible for returning any airfare paid by respective employer.

Vacation and Paid Leaves:

•  Paid vacation: 10 days (excluding weekends) plus all National Holidays.
•  Sick leave: with the approval of your employer, paid sick leave can be arranged under special circumstances if both notice and approval occur before the beginning of such leave and a medical diagnosis justifying such leave is submitted.

Health Insurance and Other Deductions :

•  Income Tax: tax deductions will be made in accordance with Korean law; participants can expect their income tax rate to be 3.3% (the tax rate is tied to one's income level)
•  Pension Fund: participants must pay into Korea's national pension fund: 9% of participant's salary per month (participant's contribution is 4.5% with employer matching that with another 4.5%; citizens from certain countries may reclaim this pension payment at the end of their contract; currently only Americans and Canadians are permitted to do so)
•  Medical/Health Insurance: half of participants' monthly fees for Korean National Health Insurance will be paid for by their respective employer.
