Recruiting Process
Upon receipt of your application and resume, said application will then be forwarded to Korea 's In-Country Coordinator. One of Global Crossroad's recruiting consultants from Korea will promptly email you to arrange a phone interview. In the next step, the recruiting team matches a school to your qualifications and preferences, and sends a job offer including information on location, a sample contract, the next step in the process, and an application form.
Required Documents
Upon acceptance of a job, prospective participants will receive a contract from their prospective employer. Participants are then required to gather all documents listed below for review by recruiting consultants from Korea . Once all listed documents are received, the visa process begins.
For public school positions the following documents are required:
A Completed Application form (to be provided)
Personal Essay or Cover Letter
An Official Medical Report and a Medical Self Evaluation (Form will be provided)
Two reference letters
If applicable: Proof of Teaching Experience (Full time experience only/exact date of working experience required)
Diploma & Sealed Transcript
A copy of passport (photo page)
If applicable: Teaching Certificate Copies (i.e., TESOL, CELTA, TEFL)
A letter verifying that the certificate is from a 100-hour course
Criminal Record
Video Record of Teacher (teaching and/or self-introduction) ( optional)
2 ID photographs
For private schools, the following documents are needed:
Original or Notarized Copy of your original university degree
University Enveloped & Sealed Transcript
Photocopy of passport
TESOL/TEFL certificates (if in current possession of either)
A letter verifying the TEFL certificate course covered more than 100 hours

Cover Letter
Unfortunately, the South Korean immigration office requires an original diploma or a notarized copy of the diploma to be submitted to the South Korean Consulate . In the event that the original diploma is submitted, the school will return said document upon initiation of respective contract . Reputable, international courier companies such as FedEx and DHL help make this process as painless as possible.
Acquiring a Visa
Upon receipt of above-mentioned documents, a representative from the prospective school will visit the immigration office in South Korea . This process normally takes about 7-10 days, in which a Visa Issuance Number' is issued.
Upon receipt of said Visa Issuance Number, a representative will email the number along with the employer's information. Participants are required to submit all said information to their respective/closest Korean consulate, along with the following documents:
(This step may also be done by mail. NOTE: it is vitally important that participants remember to include a postage-paid and self addressed return envelope for overnight service )

The time required for the Visa processing usually varies from consulate-to-consulate usually taking approximately 3-7 days.
Travel Preparations for Korea
Once the Visa is applied for (at the nearest Korean Consulate), participants are then encouraged to purchase their airfare. Participants are strongly advised to retain ALL provided information invoices, receipts for reimbursement. In the event that participants require assistance in purchasing a cheap ticket, please contact a representative. Upon confirmation of airfare, participants are required to submit their complete travel itinerary to a representative.
Arrival in Korea
A driver will be waiting at the airport holding a placard displaying the participant's name. Global Crossroad will arrange to have all housing accommodation prepared upon arrival. Unless it is unusually early in the morning or late in the evening, participants will be met at the airport and escorted to their living accommodations.
Alien Registration in Korea
The Alien Registration Card (ARC) is a form of official ID required by the South Korean government for all non-Korean citizens working in South Korea and MUST be carried at ALL times. Acquisition of this nationally-recognized ID must be done within 90 days upon arrival. NOTE: participants' respective schools will arrange the trip to immigration. When applying for the ARC, participants are required to supply the following documents/materials:
Two photos (3 to 4 cm)
A passport
A letter or certificate proving employment by respective school
KRW 10,000 for the processing fee
A completed Alien Registration Card application form
Vaccinations
To enter South Korea , there are no required vaccinations/immunizations for American, Canadian, British, Australian, New Zealander, South African citizens. BUT , the following are RECOMMENDED:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Rabies
