Qualification

There are no qualifications needed to teach in most parts of China. However, you must be a native English-speaker (citizen of USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and/or Ireland).

However, teachers interested to teach in Shanghai and Beijing must meet the following qualifications:

• Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
• Be between the age of 20-50
• Be mentally and physically capable of performing specified teaching responsibilities
• Be able to teach at least one full semester (early March to end of June and/or the 1st of September to Mid-January). Start times must be either early March or September 1st.

Fees and Dates

Placement fee: $799 (with no insurance)
Placement fee: $899 (includes insurance for one year)
Placement fee if enrolled in TEFL-China: $199
Placement fee if enrolled in 120 hour online TEFL: $199

Except Shanghai and Beijing, teachers are able to begin teaching at any time (meaning participants may apply at any time). Schools in Shanghai and Beijing require teachers to begin in either early March or September 1st. Teaching placements are available throughout China – both rural and urban locations.

Salary and benefits

Salaries and benefits of teachers depend on qualifications and experience. The rate of pay also varies with the type of school (public/private) and location (city/rural areas). However, teachers can expect an estimated salary to range from 3000 RMB – 8000 RMB ($500-$1000 per month).

Teachers work 40 hours/week (Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day), usually consisting of 22 hours of teaching and 18 hours dedicated to office hours. However, teaching hours/schedules may vary from school-to-school and term-to-term. Please find the details of salary benefits
