Once the invoice issued by Global Crossroad is paid, participants are then encouraged to begin making the necessary travel preparations (vaccinations, airfare, etc.)

Step 5: Upon receipt of participants' flight information, Global Crossroad will then submit said information to the China In-Country Coordinator who will arrange airport pick-up

Visa

A valid visa is required for participants teaching and working in China . However, types of visa depend on participants' length of stay in China . Normally, there are three (3) types of visa applicable to specific condition:

  • Tourist “L” visas (participants staying in China for 1-3 months)
  • Visitor/Business "F" visa (participants staying in China for 3-6 months)
  • Working "Z" visa (participants staying in China for more than 6 months)

Short Term (Less than 3 months): “L” visa

Participants planning on teaching for less than 3 months in China are encouraged to apply for a tourist visa in their respective home country. No additional documents are needed to receive this particular visa.

Medium Term (3-6 months): “F” visa (also known as Business Visa)

Participants planning to stay in China for 3-6 months require an “F” visa. Global Crossroad's In-Country Coordinator in China (assisted by the local Chinese schools) will supply all documents necessary to apply for an “F” visa.

Long Term (6-12 months): “Z” visa (also known as resident visa):

Participants planning to stay in China for 6-12 months require a “Z” visa. Global Crossroad's In-Country Coordinator in China will send participants an official invitation letter in addition to all documents needed for a “Z” visa.

Upon receipt of the official invitation letter and visa documents from said coordinator in China , participants are then required to submit their visa application form (with the letter of invitation for ‘F' and ‘Z' visa) to their nearest Chinese Embassy/Consulate. This visa will usually be valid for ONE month after issuance. Upon arrival in China , participants must submit their passport to the school authorities for the local residency certificate, which is mandatory for all foreigners. The process usually takes approximately 1-2 weeks (depending upon the method of application).

Visa by local schools

Many schools in China have recently received authorization from the Chinese government to issue visas for English-teachers. Therefore (depending upon the school), Global Crossroad may ask that participants arrive in China with a tourist visa – which will eventually be converted to a working visa by participants' respective schools.

Important Notice

All applicants are required to have a valid visa to teach English in China . In the event of an expired visa (while in China ), said visa may be extended by the local Public Security Bureau (PSB) with the help of the local Chinese school. It is strongly advised that participants remain diligently mindful of the expiration date of their visas. NOTE: The fine for overstaying a visa is significantly expensive – usually RMB 500 Yuan/day.

A valid passport is required to enter China . China does not allow entrance if the holder's passport expires in less than six months; returning home with an expired passport is illegal, and may result in a fine as well. It is highly suggested that participants have a photo-copy of their passport (containing their photo, passport number), along-with their international travel insurance, proof of airfare, as well as traveler's checks' serial numbers to help recover lost or stolen information.

Medical & Health Insurance

Global Crossroad does not offer medical and health insurance for participants in China 's paid English-teaching program. Teachers are required to purchase their own insurance. Should participants wish to purchase insurance, they may do through a Global Crossroad-affiliated insurance provider.
