Teach English

| Overview
of the Project
Public
schools in Morocco are in desperate need
for English teachers. The demand for English-speaking
teachers is very high due to its growing
tourism industry. Teaching English in Morocco
is ideal for the individual wishing to expand
their personal horizons as well as those
not afraid to learn how to deal with new
foreign circumstances while simultaneously
taking the initiative. The teaching-English-in-Morocco
project is very challenging. However, Global
Crossroad’s knowledgeable staff will
provide participants with proper orientation
and teaching materials – including
a textbook for the class. Participants are
encouraged to explore the wonders of Africa
while simultaneously contributing to this
developing society by teaching English in
Morocco.
Role of Volunteers
Teaching English aims
to offer English education to children in
public or private school. In effect, the
majority of the time will be dedicated to
teaching English in a formal classroom setting.
Participants are expected to teach 3-4 hours
a day (5 days a week). In addition to teaching,
additional assistance might be expected
with other activities. Additional activities
include:
- Teaching mathematics,
science, computers skills (should participants
have experience)
- Assist the children with schoolwork
- Assist in music lessons, fine arts lessons,
drama lessons
- Organizing games and extra-curricular
activities
- Help in administrative duties and other
school-related programs
- Organizing educational tours
Skills and Qualifications
No teaching experience
or qualifications are needed to work in
this particular project. Participants should
possess a working knowledge of the English
language. Global Crossroad expects volunteers
to be flexible, responsible, patient, mature,
and motivated. And most importantly, participants
should have a passion for teaching children.
Also: knowledge of the French language is
helpful.
Room/Food/Supervision
Global Crossroad manages
food and accommodations for volunteers in
Morocco. Volunteers can stay either with
a host family or in a hostel. Three (3)
meals a day will also be served to the volunteers.
Volunteer will be trained and regularly
supervised and will have 24/7 access our
local partnering coordinators. Local staff
members of the project also regularly work
with volunteers as part of the program.
