As a volunteer in Global
Crossroad’s Mongolia Summer English
Camp, you will work while surrounded by
the wondrous natural scenery, long, rich
history, and charming and colorful culture
of a remarkable civilization. This volunteer
program offers you an unlimited chance to
explore many historic sites, including the
reverent Gandan Monastery, the noble Winter
Palace of Bogd Khaan, the Fine Art Museum
of Zanabazar, and the fascinating Museum
of Natural History. Indeed, volunteers may
also observe the opening ceremony the “Naadam"
festival (held for 3 days each summer in
Ulaanbaatar beginning July 11).
Summer English camps in
Mongolia are specially designed to be thorough
English teaching and conversation programs.
Volunteers will teach basic English to children
ages 7-16 in an environment outside of their
school and home. For your two-week camp
session, you will live in a wooden house
or cabin with other volunteers and Mongolian
teachers. In the mornings and evenings,
volunteers will help to arrange the camp.
Volunteers will also assist Mongolian teachers
as they organize activities such as sports,
concert performances, art, and environmental
conservation.
Our volunteers will have
time to explore the Mongolian grasslands,
discover splendid ancient temples, ride
horses, barbeque traditional mutton, and
prepare ethnic Mongolian cuisine. Adventurous
volunteers will enjoy Mongolian wrestling,
camel riding, heart-stopping rodeo competitions,
skilled archery contests, family visits,
lively Mongolian singing and dancing, and
all that the homeland of the once-mighty
Genghis Khan has to offer.
Volunteers for the Mongolia
Summer English Camp serve for a period of
14-30 days, depending upon placement availability.
