Health Program - Mongolia

The Maternal and Child Medical Institute was established in 1930 as a children’s hospital. In 1987 this work was expanded to include a research and training center and is now called The Maternal and Child Medical Institute (MCMRC). MCMRC has three main functions: to provide specialized medical care for mothers and children; to organize post-graduate medical training for doctors and nurses; and to carry out basic research on maternal and child health.

As a volunteer, your work in the Maternal and Child Medical Institute may include:

  • Assisting children who have mental disabilities or illness, heart diseases, and cancer
  • Playing with the children
  • Teaching conversational English
