Kenya's landscape ranks among the most fascinating and diverse the world over – from the low-lying coastlands to the snowcapped Mt. Kenya rising to 17,058 feet… from the tree-dotted plains to the jagged escarpment marking the sudden drop into the floor of the eastern arm of the Great Rift Valley… from the alkaline lakes of the Rift Valley to the world's second largest freshwater lake: Lake Victoria. Kenya 's vegetation varies from dense tropical forests, to mangrove-filled forests along the coast, to the shrubbery of the arid desert lands, to the thick mountainous forests and alpine vegetation along the slopes of the snow-capped Mount Kenya.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is charged with the protection and conservation of the country's biodiversity as presented within its fauna and flora. KWS's role is as diverse as the country itself. KWS conserves and manages Kenya 's wildlife scientifically, responsively and professionally. KWS does this with integrity; recognizing and encouraging staff creativity, and continuous learning and teamwork in partnership with communities and stakeholders. Presently, Global Crossroad teamed up with KWS to protect and preserve the wildlife resources of Kenya . Now, wildlife conservation volunteer opportunities are available in Kenya through Global Crossroad
