Trip Duration: 6 Days/5 Nights
Group Leader(s): Tour leader, Driver and Guide
Accommodations: Hotels, Lodges, Tents
Transportation: Hiking, 4-Wheel-Drive Vehicle, Bus
Cost: $1400

This 6 day/5 night mountain trek takes participants through the environmental diversity surrounding Africa’s highest point of elevation – mighty Mount Kilimanjaro. Winding through rainforests and across cactus-lined desert regions, this memorable excursion offers a multitude of mountain-dominating vantage points at various times during the day – even treating adventure-seekers to a prismatic sunrise view of snow-capped Kilimanjaro.

Proposed Itinerary

Day One: You will arrive in Tanzania’s safari capital, Arusha, concluding the day’s journey in Moshi where the group will be debriefed – receiving an orientation.

Day Two: Rising early to begin the voyage to Kilimanjaro National Park, the group begins its ascent – journeying through rainforests and arriving at Mandara Hut at approximately 2750 meters.

Day Three: Completing the rainforest-filled journey, participants begins to slowly ascend Africa’s highest, most formidable peak – simultaneously acclimating themselves to the thinning air of the increasing altitude.

Day Four: Participants journey over the region known as “the saddle” – an area between the mountain peaks known as Mawenzi and Kibo. After the day’s arduous journey, participants will rest in preparation of the following day’s final ascent.

Day Five: The day begins with an early-morning ascent, taking participants through Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak – located on the very rim of the crater. A mystifying, awe-inspiring view of both Tanzania and Kenya awaits the group atop Africa’s highest point. The day commences with an ascent to Horombo Hut for an evening of jubilance and relaxation.

Day Six: Participants spend their last day upon the grounds of the mighty Kilimanjaro, descending via Marangu Gate with the day concluding in a nearby lodge or hotel.

Day Seven: An early-morning departure from Moshi transports participants back to their respective host families/hostels.

NOTE: This is a sample itinerary and may be altered to accommodate changes in field conditions
