In the last decade alone, more than 1 million children have been orphaned or separated from their families. HIV/AIDS and rampant poverty in developing countries have orphaned more than 13 million children. Still, millions of kids do not get education, simply because there are no schools or educational opportunities (source: UNICEF). The fathers/mothers in the villages of developing countries are still struggling to make their kids educated.
Is there any other way that allows us to be involved and contribute directly to these people and children?
Our humanitarian trip is basically an answer to the above question. In our humanitarian trips, we do not make hefty donations to local NGOs or other donor organizations. But, we, rather make a small team of volunteers, go to developing countries, and work along side the villagers in service projects (mostly constructing/building schools/orphanages) which directly benefits the children and communities. Contribution to poor kids/communities is the sole focus of our trip. By contributing to a noble cause of humanity, with our limited time and resources, we will be living a meaningful life building a spirit of friendship and solidarity beyond the boundary of politics, religions, race, and geography.
Humanitarian trip is not simply a tourist travel plan or itinerary. In humanitarian trips, our volunteers experience rare cultural opportunities. Depending upon situations, volunteers live in rural villages, live in simple houses, take outdoor showers (no hot water), work in physically demanding projects, eat local food, use outhouses, and experience the hard realities faced by the 2/3 of the world population living in the developing countries. All these experiences will be radically different from our present daily life.
Most of our humanitarian trips wraps up with an evident outcome of the project like the completion of homes or schools. During and after the completion of the project, you will be very happy for being in the position to do something good for the children and the poor communities. Most of the humanitarian trips also end with a wonderful opportunity to mix with the local community to understand their culture and tradition as well as a sight seeing tour.
Your humanitarian effort does not end with the completion of your trip or your project but it just begins from there. The seedling that we planted together will grow bigger and better and we will always remain a proud part of that one corner of the world where we made a difference in the lives of the children and their community.
