Our humanitarian trip abroad is the outcome of our tsunami reconstruction efforts (please read more about our tsunami reconstruction projects). In 2005, we started tsunami reconstruction works in Sri Lanka to construct homes for tsunami survivors – the families of fishermen. Within 8 months, we constructed 17 houses offering permanent shelters for 17 families and made an estimated donation of $106,000. We received an overwhelming support and a large number of volunteer participation. This has inspired us to develop similar projects around the world and support the needy people.

Recently, volunteer abroad has emerged as an alternative concept of traveling abroad. In many cases, the core value of volunteers are overshadowed or ignored with more emphasis laid on the cultural immersion and travel part. In our humanitarian trips, we go beyond this simple concept of travel and culture immersion by making a concrete visible contribution to the poor communities of developing countries. We directly contribute to the welfare of the poor children and orphans by constructing or renovating homes or schools for them. We not only travel but share our compassion, get connected with people, and contribute to the cause of humanity.

Our humanitarian trips are very unique in terms of travel and cultural immersion. Unlike other volunteer programs, we live in rural villages (many of which have no electricity), work along side the villagers, take outdoor showers, eat local food (and in many cases we sleep and live like a local villager), explore native villages, join local cultural programs, and experience the issues and challenges of developing countries directly from the field.

Presently, we are running humanitarian trips in Nepal , India , Sri Lanka , Tanzania , and Peru . Wherever we go, we will try to support the communities and the children struggling for safe home and school (education).
