Honduras Mini-Venture invites participants to embark on an off-the-beaten path voyage in the most wonderfully untouched area in Central America. First off, participants will assist orphaned children through activities designed to both educate and provide loving care and emotional support
At the conclusion of the community contributing phase, participants will embark on a 4-day adventure – exploring and discovering the beautiful mystery of Honduras – experiencing exciting opportunities such as the thrill of whitewater rafting, high-rise canopy walking, kaleidoscopic bird-watching, ethnically-interesting village visits – simultaneously exploring the wonderful city of Copan Ruinas and its surrounding areas

Day
1: Volunteers arrive in Copan Ruinas and are met at the airport by our coordinator or local staff, who will take them to their host family's home. For the remainder of the day, you will rest from the flight and spend the day becoming acquainted with your host family.
Day 2: Join Global Crossroad's morning orientation session. Orientation covers safety issues, advice on what to do in free time or on weekends, information about your host family, small introduction of ongoing projects, and required notices about living conditions, meals, climate, field topics, and what to expect in the community in which you will volunteer.
- Day 3-10: Work in orphanage (or an alternative project of your choice). Volunteer tasks in the orphanage will include teaching English and other activities such as sanitation, painting, singing, and organizing games and lessons. Share your love and hugs, bringing smiles to the faces of these destitute children who have been deprived of parental love and care.
Eco-tour and explore La Ceiba and its surrounding area for 4 Days
Day 11: Eco-tourism Adventure in Pico Bonito National Reserve and the Cangrejal River.
Summary of activities:
Whitewater Rafting: Rio Cangrejal offers some of the best whitewater rafting in Central America, with lot's of drops, waterfalls, and narrow passages. The tour begins with a river hike, which will have you leaping off of massive boulders and drifting through mild sections of the river. After the warm up, you will receive rafting instruction from professional, highly trained guides. Then you will be ready for your whitewater adventure. Rushing through rapids, maneuvering the twist and turns of the river while bounding over waterfalls and massive rocks. This is a rafting experience that all experience levels can enjoy. Stay overnight in a lodge.
Day 12: Explore Pico Bonito National Park
Wake up early, grab a quick breakfast, and get ready for a guided hike through the majestic forest of the Pico Bonito National Park. Enjoy an astonishing array of birds, butterflies, monkeys, and other flora and fauna. Pico Bonito National Park has both rainforest and cloud forest ecosystems. From Jungle River Lodge, we will cross the river and enter into the pristine jungle. Our local guides will educate and enlighten you about their jungle paradise as you hike the unmarked trails through dense rainforest. Pico Bonito National Park contains extensive flora and fauna, incredible birdlife and is home to hundreds of different species of butterflies including the famous Blue Morpha. Your aspiration of the hike is to reach El Bejuco, a magnificent 300ft waterfall and your effort will be rewarded with the refreshing mist that will envelope you.
In the afternoon, have lunch at the lodge and swim at the river or in the pool.
Day 13: Canopy Zipline Tour Have you ever wanted see the jungle through the eyes of a bird or test out your Tarzan skills, soaring from tree top to tree top? You will be fitted with state-of-the-art rappelling equipment and given thorough instruction along with a practice run. Once on the first platform the adventure begins with an exhilarating whiz across Rio Cangrejal. The zipline course has a total of 8 highwires that whisk you from tree to tree, traversing the jungle canopy all the while accompanied and assisted by our professional guides.
The tour will conclude with a spectacular 660 foot-long zipline across the Rio Cangrejal taking you back. Afterwards you can take a dip in the nature spring-fed pools while you relax and enjoy a plate of fresh fruits. This is a thrilling and adrenalin pumping tour that all ages can enjoy. Return to La Ceiba in time for dinner with your host family. At night, if you still have enough energy, you can go "La Zona Viva" (The Live Zone) to dance.
Day 14: Have a farewell celebration with your host family and receive a certificate for your help.
