In China, many public and private schools
have developed an “English Corner,"
a special place where students learn to
speak English. As a volunteer English teacher
in China, you will teach simple and conversational
English to students.
Teaching English in China
is something of an adventure, completely
different from teaching in Japan, South
Korea, or even Taiwan. This job does require
some patience in dealing with bureaucracy
and the few inconveniences at your placement,
and loads of flexibility to become accustomed
to ever-changing arrangements regarding
your schedule. But with an open mind and
adventurous spirit, you will return with
memories you couldn’t duplicate anywhere
else in the world.
No college degree is
required, but schools usually expect you
to have some sort of ESL, teaching experience,
or experience working with children. You
will make unforgettable memories with Global
Crossroad as you teach in China!
Teaching
positions are currently available in several
areas:
Xi’an: A capital
city of Shaanxi Province, home city to the
terra cotta soldiers and horses and historic
relics.
Hangzhou: A capital city
of Zhejiang Province, most famous for its
natural scenery.
Zibo: Famous
for its china (porcelain) products in north
China and more typical traditions
Weifang: Famous around
the world for its kite making.
Binzhou: A city on the
banks of the famous Yellow River
Please note that additional
placements open up frequently, and some
of these may not be available at certain
times.
