The ethnographic and folklore museum houses a small exhibition on various ethnic groups of Bolivia. The display includes a small collection of instruments, costumes, utensils/ceramic work, hunting tools and ceremonial ritual items such as masks and so on. It provides information on the various groups such as Chiquitanos, Ayoreos, Mojeños, etc. in Spanish. The English version of the information is currently in progress. There are 8 staffs in the museum who maintain the museum facilities and the nearby office located in the Parque del Arenal. The museum is free to all at the moment. Lots of school children visit the museum and use the books on various cultural groups. Small lectures or teaching groups are held at the museum from time to time.

The museum is a part of the large department of folkloric investigation and connected with this are a variety of projects that are being set up. Various workshops on cultural groups, traditional dance and music are organized in the museum. There is a project to encourage/teach/perpetuate traditional music with displays in the park and recordings are being made. Documentaries on ethnic groups have also been produced.

Approximately 400 people visit the museum in a month depending on the time of the year.

There is a small collection of books in the museum. Some books on indigenous groups of the country are also available but resources are limited. Volunteer interested to work in ethnographic museum will investigate some facts and may require to travel around Santa Cruz to find authentic information and pictures for the museum. Volunteer will mainly work as a guide in the museum, do some translations and provide ideas for the betterment of the museum. Volunteer will work for 4-5 hours everyday from Monday to Friday.

The staffs of the museum are very friendly and the museum is located in a park in the centre of the city and easily accessible.
