For volunteers desiring to work in educational sector in Bolivia, Creative Education Project might be the right one. This project uses creative education to motivate and help children and young students to develop their skills through play with structured sessions of art, handicraft, music, games, etc.
The project is about a study supporting school (so all the students assist to a regular school as well). The project boosts the self-esteem of the students and enables them to get better results in their studies. This project is also perfect for volunteer who likes arts, music and loves to spend time with kids. If the volunteer has studied psychology, that would be a plus point. For the initial preparation, volunteer will work together with Bolivian staff, make materials and learn songs and games in Spanish and English. The school aims to bring creativity in education and the project is based on bringing together the culture and artistic language in theory and into practice.
There are about 80 children between the age group of 5-12, 40 kids between 13-20 and 10 adults who are 20 years old in the school. The project volunteer assists in the classrooms of art, music, computer science, creating games, etc. Volunteer also may get involved in extra-curricular activities and/or setting up new workshops. Volunteer work 4 hours a day from Monday to Friday. Volunteer can take classes either in the morning or during the afternoon and all necessary textbooks for the syllabus will be provided by the school.
Volunteer can bring games and song books for the use of the school children. Through this project, volunteer will learn that teaching is a great sense of responsibility and fun too.
It would be helpful to learn as much Spanish as possible before arriving in Bolivia. This definitely does help in the successful placement of volunteers.
