Volunteer Responsibilities & Impacts

When you join NGO volunteer abroad program, you are going to be spending an average of 4-6 hours a day making a huge difference with a local municipality or NGO in Cordoba, Argentina. Skills and Qualifications

We recommend a beginner to intermediate level of Spanish to join our NGO volunteer opportunity in Argentina, as this will really help you make the biggest impact on these Latin American communities. NGO Volunteer Abroad In Argentina is an exciting adventure, but if you’ve never done it before you’re probably curious what a typical day might look like.

Your duties and hours are going to vary based on your own skills and interests, as well as what’s going on at the project when you arrive. To give you an idea though, we’ve gone ahead and prepared a sample schedule to give you an idea of what to expect.

Here is a sample daily schedule:

  • First Day: On your first day of NGO volunteering in Argentinian, you will be escorted to your placement by Global Crossroad’s helpful in-country coordinator, who will be there to support you throughout your experience abroad.
    You’ll meet the local project staff and have an orientation where you’ll learn all about the work you’ll be doing, your schedule, safety, and the customs and culture of Argentina.
  • Weekdays: Your actual schedule will vary, but a typical day might look something like this:
  • 7.00 to 7.30 AM​: Fuel up for the day with breakfast. If you’re staying with a host family, you’ll be sharing a traditional meal with them. Hostel volunteers will prepare their own or grab something at a bakery along the way.  
  • 7.45 AM:  You’ll head out for your exciting day of Argentina volunteering opportunity with a disadvantaged community and helping them develop and grow. Share your passion and make a difference!
  • 12.00 PM: Eat out for lunch or pack your own food to go. Make sure to take this time to chat with fellow volunteers and local project staff and make friends from around the world!
  • 3.00 PM: When your service work ends for the day, you’ll be free to explore the beautiful and historic streets of Cordoba.
  • 6.45 PM: Dinnertime is a great chance to gather with your host family and immerse yourself in the local culture, or head out to a delicious restaurant and sample the region’s delectable cuisine.

All volunteer programs in Argentina start every Monday of each month. However, if there is travel constrains, you can start any project on any day.

Global Crossroad's volunteer abroad in Argentina application and registration fee cost US $299. The application fee covers the cost of advertising, program promotion, and office expenses (rent, utilities, and staff salaries in USA office).

In addition to the application fee, you are required to pay a weekly program fee. You will pay your weekly fee directly to the country coordinator, who in turn will allocate it to your host family, project and other in-country support we offer to our volunteers. This way, the fees that you pay will benefit those who rightfully deserve them, and not for company profit.

The volunteering in Argentina program fees will cover expenses that will begin on the first day of the program (usually the first or third Monday of the month) to the last day of the program. If you arrive before the first day of the program or you decide you stay beyond your program’s last day, you will be responsible for the additional expenses, which would typically be around $30 a day for room and meals at a hostel.


Accommodation and Meal

Volunteers in Argentina working in community development program will be staying in the beautiful and culturally rich city of Cordoba. You will have the choice of either a shared room in a hostel and providing your own meals or immersing yourself in Argentinian culture by staying with a welcoming host family, who will provide you with breakfast and dinner.

You can expect many of the comforts of home, including western toilets, running water, reliable electricity, etc. You can rest easy knowing Global Crossroads will make sure your accommodations are clean, comfortable, and very safe.

Arrival and departure

You’ll fly into Pajas Blancas International Airport. We suggest you come to Argentina at least one day before the start date of your volunteer project.

Global Crossroad will have our local representative waiting for you as soon as you land, and they’ll transfer you safely to your accommodations. Just let us know if you miss your flight or have a delay, and we’ll make the adjustments for you.

Visa

You’ll need a tourist visa to participate in our NGO volunteer program. To obtain your visa, you can visit the official embassy or consulate of Argentina in your home country prior to travel. Even easier, you can apply online. Visa extensions are possible by visiting the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones.

Vaccination

The first step to a successful, safe, and illness free volunteer experience in Argentina is getting vaccinated. Meet with your doctor to discuss your needs.

The CDC recommends these vaccinations for travelers in Argentina: Polio, yellow fever, influenza, meningitis, pneumonia, rabies, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, typhoid, Hepatitis A, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), and hepatitis B.

Is there anything I should know about Global Crossroad’s NGO Volunteer Abroad In Argentina?

The ability to communicate in Spanish is very important in order to serve the disadvantaged Argentinian community you want to help, and we recommend an intermediate to advanced level at this particular project. If your Spanish language skills aren’t strong or you just want to brush up on them, we recommend you sign up for our Spanish language program prior to joining this one.  .

You must complete your registration application at least six weeks prior to your start day. It is also required that you submit a criminal record, as this is a security protocol to ensure the safety of the children you will encounter at this project. You will need to be ready to make a minimum 4-week commitment to this program.
